Having Cosmetic Surgery Has Made Me Feel Better About Myself

I had lunch last week with my best gal pal Elizabeth. I complimented her manicure, she asked how my husband Ryan was doing, we ate and had a very nice time like we always do. I asked her if she wanted to grab coffee on Friday after yoga class. She said no, she wasn’t going to yoga, she had a doctor’s appointment. Then she blushed and said that she was actually having cosmetic surgery done on her nose.

I think she was embarrassed to tell me. Instead, I told her I thought it was a great idea. I did not see anything wrong with her nose, but more power to her if she had a different image of what she wants. She was surprised when I told her that I had both my nose and breasts done.

You can’t tell by looking at me that I’ve had cosmetic surgery. I am not the nightmare that you see on TV where something has gone wrong. In fact, those incidents are incredibly rare. People watching daytime TV like shock value, just like a plane crash, or natural disaster, tragedy occurs, but in this day and age cosmetic surgery is safe, reliable, and provides many benefits.

After I had my daughter finished nursing, my chest did not look the same. I go to the gym a lot, take pride in how I look, and wanted a certain image not only for me, but for Ryan too. A year or so after I got my boobs done, I decided to alter my nose ever so slightly. I always had a little ridge right in the middle. I had it smoothed out. Hardly anyone noticed. However, I did, and it makes me feel better.

Elizabeth was relieved to hear my stories. She had always thought her nose was too big for her face. At a bar one night she saw a women who was attracting a lot of guys. She thought that the girl looked a lot like her. At one point she accidentally bumped into the women who replied, “It looks like I tripped my twin.” They giggled and started talking. Liz found out that the other women had cosmetic surgery on her nose and while it didn’t change her as a person it did make her a lot more popular with men.

I told Elizabeth that she shouldn’t expect more attention because of the procedure, but it was certainly a possibility. She said that it was something she had been considering and felt strongly that she would have more confidence and just feel sexier and less self-critical with a minor change.

Cosmetic surgery doesn’t define a person. It can, however, give you the look and feel that you’ve always wanted.
